I swear.. these cookies should be outlawed.. mmmmmm way yummy!

This was posted by stellunasoleil in hip_domestics quite awhile back.

Ingredients:
1/2 cup shortning
1/2 cup butter
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flower
1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (iffin' ya want.. I replaced this with 1 cup peanutbutter chips)

*Preheat oven to 374 degrees.
*Beat shortning and butter in a bowl for 30 secons on medium to high speed.
*Add the sugars, baking soda and salt; beat until combined.
*Beat in eggs and vanilla until combined.
*Beat in as much flower as humanly possible with your trusty mixer.
*Stir in remaning flour with a wooden spoon, if needed.
*Stir in chocolate and nuts.
*Eat a spoonful or two.. who doesn't love cookie dough?
*Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls 2 inches (or so) apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
*Bake for 8-10 minutes or until edges are browned.
*Cool (not too much for gooy middles) and eat! (Preferably with a glass of cold milk)

Seriously.. these things are SO good!

Now that I have the pretty fabric, how the heck do I turn them into super-wonderous drapes? Any suggestions?

I wanted really nice velvets for my room. I'm planning on doing something like the "elephant room" from Moulin Rouge so I wanted red velvet and A LOT of it. Course, velvet sells for like 15-30 bucks a yard. OUCH!

Someone in another commmunity gave me this link Sy Fabrics and I've found that I can get what I want for around 5-6 bucks per yard! Hoooooray!!!!!! Anyway.. Check it out of you're in the need of nice cheap fabric.

Powertools! RAH! [21 Feb 2004|07:40am]

moondanzing
I bought a power tool. Yep.. I'm officially a power tool ownin' girly.

This of course will become an obsession. (as do most of my weird hobbies) I'll end up down in my basement surrounded with various buzzy powertool thingies grunting in my best "Tool Time" impersonation.

I got this...

Ooohhhhhh, huh?! I'm getting an electric staple gun next! Of course, those who know me and my hate of soccer moms find it crazy that I'd ever invest money into something that can potentially become a weapon, but hey.. I wanna recover furniture damnit!

fa lala...

You really can't wander around saying "Oooh I want, I want!" all the time. (Honestly though, I do that... and I'm trying to stop) So.. I'm making a wish list. Yep. Stuff I want for no good reason except for the fact that I want it. *nod*

Super image heavy.. don't click if you're on dial up.. cus.. damn.Collapse )

Just to update..

Bedroom is STILL not done. Nope. I got so sick of it that I've simply refused to notice that the walls are in shambles. I've become so disgusted that I've decided to hire someone to come finish the walls and get them in 'painting condition' in order to spur myself towards finishing it.

This is what I want..

I want it. *poutwhine*

K.. also.. this is my "nook". It's a little breakfast nook off my kitchen. I have actually finished this one.

This is my 'breakfast nook'. When I moved in it was blah-white with NO style.

Nook

I HATE this little table.. but.. with a few minor enhancements it's not all that bad, really. Never underestimate a woman with a glue-gun!

Nook2

Fringe! Fringe! Ooooh how I love fringe. My boyfriend has been hiding for days. He's convinced I'll fringe him too. Muahahaha!!
Nook3

I thought that since this poor little community is so sad and empty, I'll use this as a wish list. And I wish for lots.

Paper tiger.. HA [08 Feb 2003|08:51pm]

[ mood | frustrated ]

Aaaaaaaaaah!!! Ok.. My big bright bloated idea. I decided that ripping down my wallpaper before putting up new wallpaper (or painting) would be best. Do it right, right?! Fuck that.

I started a few nights ago. I would rip up some of the wallpaper, and of course only the disgusting, cheesy vinyl crap came up, leaving the well glued paper behind. Then I took a kitchen sponge and wet down the paper and scraped it off with a spatula. (I'm so professional)

Today I decided to get a little higher tech and bought the 'paper tiger', DIF wallpaper glue dissolver, and paper scraper that goes with it. (see here to get the big picture - http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/rm_walls_wallpaper/article/0,1797,HGTV_3807_1381834,00.html )

This seems to make things go a bit easier, but I have to say I'm NOT enjoying myself. The whole project is horribly messy (which totally freaks me out) I have high ceilings and I'm pretty vertically challenged, and it seems to take forever. *sigh*

I would post a pic of the progress, but I don't have a digital camera. (I gave one to my boyfriend for Christmas, but do I get any naked boyfriend pictures back? Nooo.. sheesh)

So I'm off to rest after scraping for the last hour.

[ mood | annoyed ]

I've spent hours trying to find out where I can get in on a good demolition sale. There's a Gorgeous stone church here in town that they're planning on tearing down. I want first dibs on some of the stuff in there. A church bench.. some of the stones.. maybe a window or two. I'm not asking for much. Sheesh. BUT.. can I weedle my way into the hearts of the powers that be and get my determained butt in there? Nnn-o. Miserable mouth-breathers.

BTW.. I spoke in haste yesterday. There's another good site with paint samples on it (although not downloadable) Decorate Today

I'm buying my wallpaper here I think. Who knows. I'm some-what of a procrastinator.

Paint color help [31 Jan 2003|09:20pm]

moondanzing
[ mood | gloomy ]

When I was looking for different color ideas I tried to find lots of paint sample colors online. It was close to impossible to find decent ones.

I finally came across this site, http://www.resene.co.nz/. They have tons of tools for decorators, and one of the ones I loved was the online color library. It's a bit slow and clunky, but they have TONS of paint colors. Paint Library

Resene ColorRite is an electronic collection of virtual Resene colour cards. You can select colours from Resene ColorRite and use these to paint pathed areas in other computer programs. The 'painting' function cannot be done within Resene ColorRite.
ColoRite

This sorta goes along with it... EzyPaint

Now, I'm not being paid by Resene or anything.. I've just found that they're really the only paint place anywhere that has so much helpful info on their web site. They're not trying to lure you in to the store so the sales people can get their hooks into you. They seem to want you to be informed and happy *before* coming in. I kind of appreciate it.

I need some serious help with my bedroom walls. Anyone have any good hints for removing really nasty pastel wallpaper?
